National team players resign for Vilda . continuity

Madrid (EFE).- A total of fifteen international players have notified the Royal Spanish Football Federation of their resignation from the women’s team over refusal to remove the current coach, Jorge Vilda, from his post.

The RFEF itself reports in a statement that “it has received 15 emails from 15 women’s soccer team players, all coincidentally using the same wording, stating that the current situation affects them ‘in a major way’ in their ’emotional state’.” and in their ‘health’ and that, ‘as long as it is not reversed’, they will resign from the Spanish national team».

“The RFEF will not allow the players to question the continuity of the national coach and his coaching staff, as making those decisions is not within their purview,” he added.

The players of the selection can be sanctioned

The Federation emphasizes that “it will not accept any form of pressure from any player when taking sports measures” and that “this kind of maneuver is far from exemplary and outside the values of football and sport and is harmful”.

“Under current Spanish law, failure to attend a national team call-up is classified as a very serious offense and may carry penalties of two to five years of disqualification,” the agency recalled.

“The RFEF, unlike the way these players act, wants to make it clear that it will not push them to their limits or pressure them. It will not directly call the footballers who do not want to wear the Spain shirt. The federation will only have committed footballers, even if they have to play with youth players,” he emphasizes.

The federation believes that “this fact has changed from a sporting issue to a question of dignity. The selection is non-negotiable. It is an unprecedented situation in the history of football, both for men and women, in Spain and worldwide. .

“Spain’s present and future lies in the potential of the lower tiers and of players who have been declared World Under-20 Champion and European Under-19 Champion this summer, in addition to achieving the European Under-17 Youth Sub-Championship he recalls.

The RFEF understands that “the national team needs players who are committed to the project, who defend our colors and are proud to wear the Spain shirt. The football players who submitted their resignations will only return to national team discipline in the future if they accept their mistake and ask for forgiveness.
