July 24, Minsk / Corr. BELTA/. Two-time biathlon world champion Yuri Kolmakov has died at the age of 76, the press service of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) said today, TASS reports.
“The two-time world champion, Honored Master of Sports Yuri Pavlovich Kolmakov passed away,” the SBR noted. “The career of a prominent representative of the Soviet biathlon is connected with Minsk, where Kolmakov lived and trained. The Russian Biathlon Union expresses its condolences to the family and friends of Yuri Pavlovich, as well as the Belarusian biathlon federation.
Yuri Kolmakov received two gold medals at the world championships (1973, 1974), he won both awards in relay races. In 1974, the athlete was awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR.-0-
